My name is Manel Roumaissa Benabid , I’m an 18 years old algerian currently studying in Lebanon. I’m a TechGirl 2018 alumni, I was born and raised in Algeria, I finished my studies this year with a baccalaureate degree of 2019 . Poetically I’m a lost soul homesick for a place I’ve never known. Realistically, I’m a 19-year old Algerian author, one of the first to publish in English in Algeria, starting with my first book " Whispers of the Night " , which was published back in 2017. We finally know the 2019 cohort who will represent Algeria in Techwomen program. As a warm and early welcome to our club,  Fatima Zohra BENHAMIDA , 2017 TechWomen Fellow organized a session of predeparture orientation to Algeria TechWomen 2019 .In collaboration with Nadia Ouhenia , Cultural Affairs Assistant, the session was hosted at US Embassy Algiers on July 2 nd , 2019.  As an alumna of TechWomen and a board member of TechWomen TechGirls Club , Fatima shared her experience with  the new emerging leaders   Imene Henni mansour , Sara DIB , Imane Chekirine and Celia Ouabas . TechGirls connects and supports the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics by providing them access and opportunities to advance their skills and pursue their dreams. Since 2012, TechGirls trained and mentored 186 teenage girls (ages 15-17) from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestinian Territories, Tunisia, and Yemen. The core of the program is a three-week experience in the United States. In 2019, the program expands to include 24 young women from Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.) TechGirls participate in an interactive technology and computer camp (with U.S. Girls), join a tech company for a day of job shadowing, and participate in community service initiatives. There is a TechGirls multiplier effect – inspiring others in their local community to pursue STEM. On June 29th, 2019 , Algeria TechWomen &TechGirls Alumnae met in Algiers for the 1st edition of Alumnae Summit. The event was hosted by World Learning Algeria STEM Center and sponsored by Legacy International. 21 fellows (14 TechWomen and 7 TechGirls) attended the summit to launch officially Techwomen TechGirls Algeria Club. It was a day full of activities. The event started with a networking session where alumnae community and guests had coffee together and introduce themselves and talk about their activities to each other.
